I knew you could widen steel rims by cutting the bead and welding sheetmetal in between. With this method the rims will always be a bit weaker than before and really wide rims are not advisable to make this way. So how about using a butane gas cylinder to widen a 14 inch 5J steel rim to 13J?
Who said SSR Mk Is are the best looking rims? These deep dish steelies on this Laurel C130 look definitely just as awesome!

These nice deep dish rims were photographed on HistoriX Japan:

Dunno how deep they actually are, but they appear to be somewhere between 8J and 10J…
Talking about width, how about these stretched tires?
Stretched tires
Surely the rims are somewhere in the same range and the tires clearly aren’t! Nice!
At first I had trouble identifying the deep dish rims on this Skyline KGC10, however I recognized the car as the one I posted as wallpaper some time ago where it reveals that they are actually SSR Mk. III rims!

From this perspective you can already guess the rims up front are beyond 7J, rather into the 8J or 9J range!
On the rear they are a bit wider:

But not too much. My best guess is around 9J or 10J.
It has been a while since we had a deep dish post like this! I found these two 12J wide RS Watanabe rims for sale on Auctions Yahoo:

The rims have an offset of -50, so even with wide fender extenders the wheels will probably stick out anyway. 😉

The tires are a set of Dunlop Sport R90s 265/575 competition tires. Not something you will find on an average set of Wats!

Rims are, of course, in pcd 4×114.3 so they will even fit most older Japanese cars.
