As I said a few days ago I did have something special that is close to the kaido racers: the heavily modified bemo taxi busses I saw while visiting Jayapura (Papua, Indonesia):
Mitsubishi Colt (Minicab) bemo taxi bus in Jayapura
As you can see these busses are modified with deep dish rims (sticking far out of the bodywork), tsurikawa (but only on the inside), trunk and chin spoilers, foglights and a lot of them had headlight and/or taillight swaps. So pretty close to the real deal! 🙂
We haven’t posted any vintage Volk Mesh rims so far, so how about these 9J wide examples to make it up for that fact?
Deep dish 9J Volk Mesh rims
These rims were mounted under a Yonmeri Skyline GC110, once owned by one of the members of the Aoyama Jokers.
In case you are curious how these rims would look under such a car, this is how they look:

Apart from the rims this Yonmeri Skyline had its fenders widened by a set of fender flares to fit them and also the tail lights were swapped for a set of C210 items.

This generation of the Mitsubishi Galant was not very popular in Japan (in contrary of its popularity overseas) so it is very irregular to find a kyusha styled example.

You can’t go wrong with a set of deep dish SSR Mk. II rims on a Nissan Bluebird!
SSR Mk II on a Bluebird-U
And even if the rims are sticking out too far you can always add a couple of fender flares!
At the rear these SSR Mk II rims are even wider:

My gue(s)stimation is that they are 14 inch and 9J and 10J wide.

Earlier this week I got an email from Okumi RT that he got a new set of rims for his Fairlady S30:
Okumis SSR MK III 14 inch 10J/12J wide
A set of SSR Mk III rims. They are 14 inch in diameter and 10J and 12J wide.
This is how much wider they are as his current SSR Mk IIs:
Okumis SSR MK III 14 inch 10J/12J wide
As a reference: his previous setup was 9J/10J, so this is going to be a lot wider at the rear!
And this is how they would look en profile:

Beautiful! Can’t wait till he finally mounts them on the S30!
Actually there is a reason why he hasn’t mounted them yet: he is not able to source the correct tires for them yet, so can anyone help him out with finding 245-255/50/14 tires in Thailand?
