Finally we managed to kick off the search for the baddest of the toughboy zokushas! With a toughboy zokusha we mean the pre 80s ride with big loud pipes, extreme wide wheels and scraping to the ground on every bump. Only to be driven by the toughest guys!
7M Kev suggested to do a poll on this. It will be the same as the sudden death series when we searched for the most iconic zokusha: we take two toughboy zokushas and you take your pick! After a week we will look at the results and put up a next pair for you! 😉
In total we have selected 16 cars, from which 3 were selected by others. You can still send in your nominations and we’ll see if we can still fit them in the lineup.
So, this week we start with:
Nissan Laurel C130 #1
As you can see: the Laurel has a headlight swap and you can’t hardly see the road beneath it. With the 70s lip and paintscheme this Laurel looks even tougher than any extended fender would have!
versus
Nissan Fairlady Z S30 #1
With its immitation G-nose this Fairlady Z S30 looks really tough! It also has a first generation Celica liftback taillight swap and the tsurikawa hints the car won’t be able to take speedbumps in a normal fashion anymore.

The sudden death decided! The most iconic bosozoku style wheel is:
Most iconic bosozoku style wheel: SSR mk1 14 inch 11J and wider!
The 14 inch SSR Mk1 with width of 11J and wider is clearly the winner!
Thank you all for voting! Next week we will start with the badboy zokusha shootout!

It is a tie!!
The 14 inch 9J/10J and 11J and wider got both 24% of the votes each!
So it will be a sudden death then! Which one will it be then? The ones on the left (11J and above) or the ones on the right (9J/10J)?
SSR Mk 1 14 inch 10J and 12J

It was quite close and even though the wheel was not in the picture (nobody noticed!), but in the end the SSR Mk. I is chosen as the most iconic wheel by SSR! All that is left now is to choose the right size and offset for that wheel!
I made a small selection:
13 inch
SSR mk1 rims: 9.5J (front) and 11J (rear) wide
SSR Mk I 13inch 12J
14 inch
SSR Mk 1 14 inch 7J
SSR Mk 1 14 inch 7.5j
SSR Mk 1 14 inch 10J and 12J
15 inch
SSR Mk. I 8J
SSR Mk 1 15 inch 9J
SSR Mk 1 15 inch 11J
As you can see I’ve put these numbers into a range in the poll.
