It was to be expected and Jin already predicted it: SSR is the most iconic wheel brand!
So, lets find out what product by SSR is the most iconic wheel then! I found this great old advertisement of SSR at beeoneoneoh:
I made an selection out of it:
SSR Mk. I
SSR Mk. II
SSR Mk. III
SSR Formula Mesh
SSR Longchamps XR4
SSR Jilba Racing (isn’t that just a solid Work Equipe?)
SSR F5
SSR Star Shark, which is not in the picture, so here it is:
There are some other rims by SSR, but they are either newer or so rare you will never see them on a zokusha!
Scott Cooper sent us some pictures of his 12J wide Toms Racing rims:

As you can see, they are test fitted on his Toyota Corolla GT-S AE86 and he is certainly in need of some fender extenders!

Maybe a nice set of N2 fenders would look great on this Corolla?

Here you can see the inside design of the rims! Such beautiful rims! Definitely would have been a good one for the poll if we wouldn’t have made up a list already…
Big thanks to Scott for these excellent pictures!

SSR Mk III 13 inch 11J (end result)
These SSR Mk III rims were photographed by Zeppann (aka Zeppann13J) and are quite a rarity in these widths. He took pictures of the whole process of polishing these rims since they arrived like this:
SSR Mk III 13 inch 11J (how they arrived)
After some polishing the lip already looked like this:
SSR Mk III 13 inch 11J (polished lip)
Only polish the outside? Why not polish the inside as well?
SSR Mk III 13 inch 11J (Shiny on the inside as well)
This way the tire also has a nice “view” of the rim! 😉

No, I did not make a mistake in the title. It was done deliberately because of these:
SSR Mk II 14 inch 10J/11J
Big deal: a pair of 14 inch 10J or 11J rims. What has this got to do with stretching then? Well have a look at this then:
SSR Mk II 14 inch 10J/11J with stretched tires
The seller gives you two (175/60 Continental EcoContact) stretched tires as a bonus!
SSR Mk II 14 inch 10J/11J with stretched tires
But there are some catches with these rims:
– seller doesn’t know the exact width (10J or 11J?) and offset
– one rim has kerb damage on its shoulder (has been polished away)
– mounting bolts are not included

by banpei with 1 commentThis week another nice set of SSR Formula Mesh rims:
SSR Formula Mesh 15 inch 10J white
These rims are 15 inch in diameter and 10 wide. The offset is unknown, but the seller thinks they are between -15 and 20, in other words: somewhere in the middle. ?´?????
The center of these rims is painted white and it really looks great on these rims! Makes me think of the doridori rims a friend of mine has. ?´???

The seller suggests you should replace the tires: they are old and worn. Looking at the remaining thread on this tire I would not put them under my car…

You can see the lip on the inside is also quite wide. Compare this to the other Formula Mesh rims we posted a month ago and you will see they are roughly the same size and width. The other Formula Mesh have a much more positive offset than these and therefore having a much wider lip.
