Is this a new regular? Well, actually I was planning to do a deep dish but last monday we got a comment from TOJI004 that he stretched 195/50 tires on 10J rims. My remark was that I can only imagine what it looks like! My best guess it comes a bit near this:
RS Watanabe 16 inch 8.5J with 175/60 stretched on it
You can really see the inner and outer shoulders on this rim standing out from the tirewall!
So alternating between deep dish and stretch tires is a nice addition to these series. ????????(???)??????!!!!!
I posted these pictures on my own regular blog last week as well. This Minkara user wanted to find the perfect match for his Carina AA63 Wagon and what else to do with a set of 16 inch 8.5J and 8J RS Watanabe rims than to fit several tire sized on them to see how they look stretched on those rims:
Compare several tiresizes on these RS Watanabe 16 inch 8J and 8.5J
The tiresizes are from left to right: 195/50 on 8.5J, 175/55 on 8.5J, 175/55 on 8J
This is how the 175/55 on 8.5J looked:
RS Watanabe 16 inch 8.5J with 175/55 fitted on Carina AA63 Wagon
And what did he choose? 175/60 turned out to be the perfect match!

This week we have another set which is almost wider than high in diameter: this SSR Mk I pair is 13 inch in diameter, but 12J wide!
Look at how wide that rim is: almost two packs of cigarettes would fit in that lip!
Sorry for the bad quality of the pictures, but the auctions.yahoo.co.jp ad only had small pictures

Some time ago I found the website of the owner of the Japan Buttigiri Special. He posted some pictures of rims on his site, but most of them were a but odd:
Well, what better way to show how deep your dish is than by comparing it with your cat? Or if you don’t have a cat, a dog will do as well:
Less deep dish mesh rims with a dog
If you are interested in more pictures of the Buttigiri owner and friends, you can find them here:

This week we have some very rare rims: they are only 6J wide! 😀
Deep dish SSR Mk II rims 12 inch diameter and 6J wide
But saying they are very rare isn’t a joke: hardly anyone buys the 12 inch rims and 6J wide is a bit too wide for most cars. Think about it this way: most modern cars today drive on 6J wide rims, but then they are 15 inch in diameter!

They are meant for smaller cars like the Toyota Starlet KP61 or the Nissan Sunny B110.

Even these 175/70 tires look stretched on this 6J wide rim…

Remember the SSR Formula Mesh rims feature? Well, this time we found some SSR Reverse Mesh more SSR Formula Mesh rims:
Deep dish SSR Formula Mesh rims
The difference between the Formula Mesh and the Reverse Mesh rims is the lip. The Formula Mesh features a second lip in the rim while the Reverse Mesh has a straight (flat) lip.
I found these on the Nagoya Racing bbs, but apparently their service discontinued last month, so I can’t find the exact diameters anymore. 🙁
Lip on this SSR Formula Mesh is 8.5 inches wide!
The lip alone is over 8.5 inches wide!! Most people I know drive around between 7J and 8J wide wheels… 8.5J lip is pure madness! 🙂
I’m not sure how wide they actually are. If the lip is already 8.5J and the center looks about 1 inch wide I would say they are 13J or 14J wide…
I think it is just a matter of taste, but personally I do like the Formula Mesh rims more than these Reverse Mesh rims. But of course I wouldn’t say no to any of these two at all! 🙂
