Just spotted a video of the Early Cats meeting in my subscription list with some very very nice zokusha in it!
Can you guess which one of these two is my favorite? Is it the Cherry X-1R tail lighted Laurel c130 or the side exhausted and banana tail lighted Celica XX next to it?
You can watch the whole four minute parkinglot walk video below: (more…)
by banpei with 2 commentsAccording to the poster somewhere in 1981 at the Fuji Grand Championship these photos were shot outside in the parkinglot. Now thirtyone years later they emerge on Youtube as a video with suitable late 70s/early 80s disco track underneath it!
Looking at the Celica XX makes me believe either a brand new one was treated the kaido racer style or it should rather have been a bit later in the 80s.
Anyway, that doesn’t stop us from having fun with the video: (video on the next page!) (more…)
by banpei with 2 commentsAggressors of Dark Kombat was a fighting game released by SNK in 1994 and went a few steps beyond their normal fighters. As the name already suggests: the game uses the K to make a wink to the Mortal Kombat.
The game itself was more targeted to the street brawling youth, hence all the references to the bosozoku in it. In this fragment you can spot in the background a shark nosed Toyota Soarer GZ10, a Toyota Crown MS125, a Toyota Cresta GZ71 and a Toyota Celica XX GX61 with oil coolers mounted on the bumper! Makes me wonder if they got some cash from Toyota for inserting their whole 80s lineup…
Now where can I find a second hand Neo Geo? 😉
This Celica XX is screaming so much revs out of its tail pipes that it is definitely worth a title as rev-champ of the week!
These guys from Sakura Racing really know how to hold meetings!
